What do you use your cell phone for?

Uncategorized 5 February 2010 | 3 Comments

For me, my cell phone is the gateway to my online world when I don’t have access to my laptop.

It’s where I check my email, tweet on Twitter, make whrrl stories and text message.  I love my phone because my husband hates my computer and he especially hates it when we are watching a movie or tv show together and he hears the clicking of my fingers as I’m talking on Skype, checking my emails or conversing in 140 characters or less on Twitter.  He hates it because he knows that I am only half paying attention to whatever tv show or movie we agreed to watch together.  I love having a cell phone where I can pretty much do ANYTHING that I can do on the web discreetly and without frustrating anyone.

I’m currently reviewing the Palm Pre Plus by Verizon and I really like it!  I decided to go at it without reading the manual which got kinda frustrating kinda quickly because to use the phone there are specific gestures you need to use to go between screens, to minimize screens and to trash screens.  I did figure it out on my own, but pulled the manual out afterwards to see what I might be missing.

I found out that there are gestures for zooming, which I needed a few times and would have been nice to know, but other than that, I figured the rest out just by playing with the phone.

I love the large screen.  It is very clear.

Adding all of my email accounts was a breeze.

I don’t like the keyboard.  I have normal sized lady fingers and I felt cramped using the keyboard and my fingernails aren’t short, but they aren’t long either.  I can only imaging how a man would feel.

One thing my daughter noticed was the mirrored back… perfect when taking a picture of yourself with the camera…one reason why I think this phone was built for women.  Another reason I think this phone was built with a woman in mind…the sleek, yet curved design…it feels great in the hand!

Other very cool feature:

  • Wi-Fi Hotspot that can be shared among 5 Wi-Fi-capable devices!  This is great for traveling!  No more having to pay for Wi-Fi in hotels!  Love that!

So, what do you use your cell phone for?

I just got one too, and so far so good. I wasn’t sure what phone to go with, Droid, wait for Nexus One, etc. So I have 20 more days to decide to keep it or not. I did have to install a virtual keyboard with Homebrew because I don’t like the keyboard either. But I am really growing attached to it, I don’t know if I will want to return it.

I have the Blackberry Curve (been told it’s the newer style, but who knows – no roll ball) anyways .. I have Verizon Wireless service with it too. I use my Blackberry to stay connected to clients when on the road, if they have a quick question I can answer it no matter where I am at! My Blackberry, believe it or not, has allowed me more family time because I am not restricted to working only from my PC or laptop!

I tweet and updated Facebook more often having my cell phone too!
